Ex-Bok named IRB ambassador

Ashwin Willemse, a member of the Rugby World Cup 2007 winning Springbok squad, was named as the International Rugby Board's (IRB) Junior World Championship 2012 ambassador on Thursday. The key age grade tournament will be played from June 4-22, in Cape Town. Willemse was also a key member of Jake White's IRB Under-21 World Championship 2002 winning squad. Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers said on Monday he had no knowledge of Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula earmarking him for a rugby developmental role at grass root level.
